Important Tax Dates for Individuals

  • January 15 – 2024 Q4 Estimated Taxes Due – If your employer does not withhold taxes from your paycheck, you will need to pay your quarterly estimated taxes by this date for the fourth quarter of 2024.
  • January 29 – Tax Season Starts – You can begin filing your 2024 federal taxes.
  • February 18 – Reclaim Withholding Exemption – If you filed a W-4 for an exemption from withholding in 2024, you will need to refile by this date. This is for filers who expect to owe no tax.
  • April 1 – Required Minimum Distribution Due – If you turned 73 in 2024, you will need to take your required minimum distribution from your retirement account by this date.
  • April 15 – Tax Day – Federal tax returns are due. 
  • April 15 – 2025 Q1 Estimated Taxes Due – If your employer does not withhold taxes from your paycheck, you will need to pay your quarterly estimated taxes by this date for the first quarter of 2025.
  • June 16 – 2025 Q2 Estimated Taxes Due – If your employer does not withhold taxes from your paycheck, you will need to pay your quarterly estimated taxes by this date for the second quarter of 2025.
  • September 15 – 2025 Q3 Estimated Taxes Due – If your employer does not withhold taxes from your paycheck, you will need to pay your quarterly estimated taxes by this date for the third quarter of 2025.
  • October 25 – Deadline for Extended Tax Return Filing – If you filed an extension request for your return, it will be due by this date.
  • December 31 – Required Minimum Distribution Due – If you turned 73 in 2024 and took your first required minimum distribution by April 1, you will also need to take your 2025 required minimum distribution by the end of 2025. This is the same due date for anyone required to take a required minimum distribution for 2025.
  • January 15, 2026 – 2025 Q4 Estimated Taxes Due – If your employer does not withhold taxes from your paycheck, you will need to pay your quarterly estimated taxes by this date for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Important Tax Dates for Businesses

  • January 15 – 2024 Q4 Estimated Taxes Due – Payment due for your estimated tax burden for the fourth quarter of 2024.
  • January 31 – W-2s Sent – Employers are required to send any W-2s by this date.

  • March 15 – Taxes Due for Partnerships – For partnerships operating on a calendar year, including S-corporations and multi-member LLCs, you will need to file Form 1065 or 1120S by this date.   • April 15 – Taxes Due for C-Corporations – C-corporations operating as a calendar-year business need to file form 1120 by this date. For fiscal-year businesses, reach out to our accountants for information on when to file.
  • September 15 – Extended Filings Due for Partnerships – Partnerships, including S-corporations, are required to file any extended returns by this date.
  • October 15 – Extended Filing Due for C-Corporations – C-corporations are required to file any extended returns by this date.
  • January 15, 2026 – 2025 Q4 Estimated Taxes Due – Payment due for your estimated tax burden for the fourth quarter of 2025.
